Are there any chances for Opera 11

Tobi said...

Hi!
Thanks for the nice little Chrome plugin.
It seems to render maps.google.de unuseable both using it directly via the browser and using embedded maps on other websites.
Cheers
Tobi

Interesting, lots of resources from google.com are being fetched there. The fix is nontrivial, so will have to wait till I add support for international Google domains (in a week or two).

Embedded maps, on the other hand, are disabled by design — they send the page you’re on with your personal info back to Google.

Brian Kennish said...

Unlikely :-( — too many other browsers to get to first and there’s just me to implement for them.

Ram Chagol said...

very nice. first thanks!
secondly, can you also port this extension for Opera browser please?

Brian Kennish said...

I stand corrected — maps.google.de, embedded Google Maps, and all other embedded Google and Yahoo content work now (v2.1.0+)!

Brian Kennish said...

Thank you. But see below re Opera … Unless there’s an Opera developer who wants to team up — Disconnect is an open-source project.

How's a version for Safari coming? Or, if I switch to Chrome, can I keep all my bookmarks, etc?

Anonone said...

Would truly LOVE to see this as a Safari plugin!

WHAT THE HELL. O. M. G. Kind of ironic that I need to use a real email to post a comment, hu :)

Do you have a timeframe for when you will have a Firefox version?

Brian Kennish said...

The Safari version will be available by the first week of January. If you subscribe to the newsletter at http://disconnectere.com/ (or this blog), you’ll get a notification when the release happens.

You should be able to comment anonymously here. If not, I set something up wrong.

Brian Kennish said...

Almost done — ought to be out the first week of January.

Brian Kennish said...

The end of February, I think.

I can't use Google Chat when I have "Disconnect" enabled.
I get the message "Cannot Reach Chat Servers".
When I disable "Disconnect", then Chat works.

Is there a fix for this?

Brian Kennish said...

Should be fixable. Where are you using Chat?

what about IE?

Lordstriker said...

Bro, I beg you, build it for FireFox 4 too!

Lordstriker said...

FireFox, you know, has no limitations and maybe will work even better! Don't you think?

where is the download button for those of us who haven't downloaded chrome?

i'm not a techy so i can't confirm that you or other third party companies still don't collect my info but it sure is nice not to have all those personalized ads anymore. i don't use social sites like facebook so i can't comment on that aspect of the plugin but i'm recieving about 90% less ads on any pages i visit and there doesn't seem to be any change of speed in my browsing. thank you for this free, unobtrusive, advertising and personal information stealing blocker. keep fighting the good fight.

I’m aiming to have a Firefox version out in February. Subscribe to the newsletter at http://disconnectere.com/ (or this blog) to hear about the release first.

Brian Kennish said...

Get Chrome here: http://www.google.com/chrome.

Brian Kennish said...

I’m contemplating an IE version but not working on one yet, mostly because IE is the hardest browser to develop for.

What's the difference between Disconnect and Facebook Disconnect?

Is Disconnect enough, or do I need Facebook Disconnect too?

Brian Kennish said...

Done! If you want to help test, email me and I’ll send you a prerelease copy.

Facebook Disconnect for Chrome is introducing an error in my daily use of Facebook. When enabled, I cannot post to walls from games such as Restaurant City. Reading the network log from Inspector I get script failures:

Uncaught ReferenceError: FB is not defined
(anonymous function) http://cooking.game.playfish.com/g/fb/cooking/iframe?pf_lang=es&pf_ref=sb:1919

Disabling it fixes the whole thing.
I post this in here as I didn't find anywhere else to do so :(
